The SeaDream Experience

1. What is SeaDream Yacht Club?SeaFream is NOT a crusie ship!
SeaDream Yacht Club is an innovative, new yachting company that operates the twin, ultra-luxury mega yachts SeaDream I and SeaDream II. When they were originally introduced, they soon became the prototypes of the casual and intimate yachting experience. SeaDream Yacht Club has built upon this legacy and today the two sleek and stylish SeaDream yachts are highly acclaimed by discerning travelers seeking a unique seagoing experience and by travel industry observers everywhere.

2. How and when did SeaDream Yacht Club come into being?
SeaDream Yacht Club was founded in September of 2001 by Norwegian entrepreneur Atle Brynestad who founded Seabourn Cruise Line and Larry Pimentel, who was President of Seabourn under Brynestad and later President and CEO of the merged companies Cunard-Seabourn. Pimentel is President and Chief Executive Officer of SeaDream and a Co-Owner. Brynestad is Chairman and Owner. The two friends brought into SeaDream a small group of management colleagues with vast travel industry experience as well as shipboard officers and staff of unequaled ability.

3. Why is SeaDream Called a Yacht Club?
As our President says, "We are not a cruise line. We are a yacht company and we provide a yachting experience." Yachting features an open and unstructured ambience that provides guests the ability to fulfill their own dreams - call them "SeaDream's" if you will---at their own pace and in their own style. We like to express this as "No clocks, no crowds, no lines, no stress." The key word for the SeaDream yachting experience is "unstructured". It is all about personal choice. Think of it as a free form holiday in which guests fall into a "seadream" and believe that they are aboard their own yacht. That is why we say, "It is yachting, not cruising".

4. What are some of the highlights of the SeaDream yachting experience?

  • Flexible Schedules and Itineraries – Basically, SeaDream I and II sail on scheduled, seven-day itineraries. Nevertheless, although SeaDream yachts depart their first port of call and arrive at their last port of call as scheduled, arrivals and departures at intermediate ports are not necessarily, cast in stone. Our Captains have the authority to adjust for local opportunities. Our yachts can make unscheduled calls at small ports to visit a local fish market, for example, or remain longer than scheduled in a secluded bay so guests can enjoy a few more hours of water sports. Stay in prt late while the crusie ships leave early
  • Overnighting in Key Ports – Unlike Cruise Ships that usually arrive at ports of call in the early morning and depart in the evening of the same day, SeaDream yachts overnight at many ports of call. You will find many examples when you go into the itinerary section of this website. However, let us give you just a couple of examples here: One port in the Caribbean where we overnight is Gustavia on the French island, St. Barts. When we sail in the Mediterranean, we frequently overnight at the French Riviera port of St. Tropez. The point is the action does not even get started in ports such as these until late in the evening and we have found that our guests are active people who do not want to miss anything.
  • Officers and Staff Lead Guests on Personal Off-Ship Experiences – our guests to their favorite sites to share their favorite experiences. Guests may have the chance to go snorkeling with the Captain in an area he knows well and enjoys. The Activities Director might lead guests on a shore-side hike that he has uncovered on a previous visit. Guests may also want to join our Chef for a visit to his favorite patisserie or to a fine fish market where he plans to select some delicacies to put on the menu that evening. There is no cost for these shore-side opportunities.
  • No Tux for Guys, No Gala Gowns for Gals – The SeaDream yachting experience is a casual affair. There is no formal dress code. When asked about what our guests wear during the day or in the evening, we always respond by using the phrase "Resort Casual"--- sportswear for the activity of your choice, easy to wear and comfortable attire for shore-side visits. For specific clothing suggestions, you may want to speak to a travel professional or telephone us.
  • Wellness and Well-Being – for both body and mind are high priorities with our guests and a concept that we at SeaDream take very seriously. Onboard you will find SeaDream's Spa and Fitness Center including a highly trained staff. This is another point of differentiation from the usual cruise line concept. Our spa is exclusive in that it is listed together with some of the leading spas in the world with the Thai Spa Association. No other passenger ship can make that claim. The fitness Center featuring treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent bikes, and free weights all with flat screen TVs and DVD players and a personal trainer is available at your request. Tai chi, yoga and Aerobics on deck are available as requested by guests. There is also a hair and nail salon. Guests will also find a well-equipped medical facility aboard both our yachts and a licensed, highly trained physician aboard all of our sailings.
  • The Golf Simulator – On SeaDream yachts, guests are able to play 50 championship courses on our state-of-the-art Golf Simulator. Additionally, we have a partnership with the renowned Orlimar Golf Company, creator of the famed Orlimar Golf Clubs and other golfing equipment. Guests who wish to purchase Orlimar Clubs aboard after trying them out with the simulator may do so; the purchase will be drop-shipped directly from the factory. Our Activities Directors will assist guests in arranging tee times at golf course at ports-of-call.
  • The Caviar and Champagne Splash – Of course, our guests expect to be able to enjoy caviar and champagne whenever and wherever they wish. Therefore, we have developed our inimitable Caviar and Champagne Splash. We use the word "Splash" advisedly. Aboard our yachts, around and "in" our outdoor swimming pool our staff serves guests Caviar and Champagne. It's fun and splashy. Ashore, on secluded beaches, along with a beach barbecue or picnic, we offer our Champagne and Caviar Splash right at water's edge. Guests don't know which is louder, the click of camera shutters or the fizz of champagne. Balinese sun beds where you can relax, eat, or even spend the night!
  • Balinese Sun Beds – Each of our yachts features the sensational Balinese Sun Beds. These, highly popular, double sun beds are raised above the sightline of the yacht's railings to provide unobstructed views. Large umbrella's can provide shade when desired. Guests sunbathe, read, look out to sea, or just snooze.
  • The Library – An elegant library, cozy and quiet, offers a large selection of books ranging from the classics to bestsellers. Magazines, newspapers, board games and computers with internet connections, are also available 24 hours a day.
  • The SeaDream Boutique – The Boutique is open when at sea to allow guests to purchase duty free. It offers fine gifts of international name brands, sports and yacht-wear, both with and without SeaDream logos, and necessary personal items guests may have neglected to bring with them. SeaDream also has Boutique items on our website - www.SeaDreamYachtClub.com. All water vsports incuded at no charge!
  • Water Sports Marina – Each yacht features a large water sports Marina that is lowered from the stern in secluded, clear bays and coves. Guests can enjoy a variety of water sports activities including kayaking, water skiing, tubing, boarding, wave running, snorkeling and sunfish sailing. Only SeaDream gives you so many dining options
  • Award-winning, Fine Dining – While we hesitate to use that overworked and undervalued phrase "gourmet dining," we can with assurance declare that the open-seating dining aboard SeaDream I and II is a gourmet experience that has been highly rated in authoritative guides and other publications. You might also want to check the "What They are Saying" section of our website where you will find testimonials from our guests. On SeaDream, guests are able to dine both indoors and outdoors in high style with a casual ambience.
The Main Dining Salon is an elegant indoor space, large enough to accommodate all guests. The menu is an eclectic combination of classics and unusual international offerings. The Maitre'd seats guests in small or larger groups and, if a couple wishes to focus only on each other at a table for two, that's fine too.
Guests also dine in the dramatic Topside Restaurant, open to the mild sea breezes but shaded from the sun. If a couple wishes to dine privately, there are a number of small alcoves where they may do so. There is also 24-hour room service that features light, healthful offerings. Finally, a wide selection of Canapes and Caviar are served in the Main Lounge, and fresh-cut sandwiches may be found at the Top of the Yacht Bar and by the swimming pool. Guests who crave Caviar will find it available at all times.
  • The Wine Cellar – Our Sommeliers are masters of their wine cellars at sea that feature many of the world's most classic vintages and an array of little-known, but surprisingly enticing wines. Classic wines are available for purchase. The Sommeliers also pour a selection of fine reds and whites complimentary at luncheon and dinner. Exquisite Thai Spa
  • Thai Spa -- A rejuvenating spa experience awaits you at SeaDream's Thai Spa.  Discover the ultimate Asian therapies and behold the secrets and luxury of Oriental inspired spa tretas.  Choose from an extensive range of spa favorites such as our Shiatsu massage, Javanese Lulur and Traditional Thai massage.  Plus a full hair and manicure salon.

All ocean view suites5. What Kind of Guest Accommodations are found on SeaDream Yachts?
The answer to that question: As fine as or finer than found on elegant yachts anywhere in the world. Specifically, SeaDream I and SeaDream II are mega- yachts with only up to 55 guest accommodations. Fifty-four of these are what we call Yacht Club Staterooms of 195 square feet. Sixteen of these are convertible to eight Commodore Club (double) Staterooms of 390 square feet. There is also an Owner's Suite of 450 square feet. Therefore, our yachts will accommodate from 47 to 55 couples based on how the staterooms are configured. On our website can be found stateroom layouts and deck plans that will expand on what we have said here. Of course, you can also look at the photo section on the website that will show you exactly what these accommodations look like.

6. More on our Staterooms
Each stateroom features a marble-clad bathroom with amenities by the internationally known company, Bvlgari, and plush Denzili Turkish cotton bathrobes with slippers. There are also separate, multi-jet, massage shower units and lighted, magnifying mirrors. Each Stateroom living-room area features an Entertainment Center with a large, flat screen, television, CD and DVD systems, internet ready outlets and personalized stationery. Each stateroom also has a bar and refrigerator unit stocked with complimentary beer, soft drinks and bottled spring water. This bar can also be stocked with guests' choices of spirits and wines at minimal cost. The Top of the Yacht Bar is a popular gathering spot as is the Topside Restaurant.

9.Open Bar Policy
There is a complimentary open bar policy in public rooms and in public space on deck.

10.Entertainment on Board
Yachting is a highly personal experience. So is our entertainment. There are no glitzy revues, no revolving stages with smoke and mirrors. There is an intimate Piano Bar, light music in the Main Salon along with first run movies and other special films in the Main Salon by moonlight in the aft pool deck, or your choice of CDs and DVDs for your stateroom. In addition, guests may check out at no cost an MP3 Jukebox stocked with all types of music---enough for 24 hours a day, for the complete sailing without repeating a selection. Since SeaDream guests are yachting, they also find ways to entertain themselves. The art of conversation, a quiet moment to catch up on their reading, the Library onboard has a large selection of books from the classics to bestsellers available 24 hours a day. You can also make full use of the Balinese SunBeds for sunbathing or gazing at stars.

Use our mountain bikes ashore at no charge!

12. What to do Ashore?
Besides the opportunity to join staff members for no-cost, personal off-ship experiences in various ports of call, SeaDream offers a series of exclusive Yachting Land Adventures. These are custom-designed shore excursions, priced nominally, that our guests enjoy, but for guests who want to do their own thing, the Activities Director will conduct informal talks prior to each port of call. These talks help guests orient themselves and deal with such topics as getting around, shopping and dining.

13. What is the Smoking Policy Aboard these Yachts?
SeaDream observes a No Smoking Policy in the Staterooms and all interior spaces. It does permit smoking outdoors on Decks 3, 4 and 6. !st class service--and tipping not necessary

14. What about Service and Tipping?
Service is of the highest order aboard SeaDream Yachts. Authoritative guides and other publications give us their highest ratings. Our service may be characterized as being in the European style. Our international service staff is recruited largely from noted hotels and restaurants worldwide. Gratuities are included in the cost of the sailing. Guests aboard our yachts do not have to carry cash or sign tabs. No tipping is necessary.

15. What about the Complete Redesign and Refit of the Yachts?
ASeaDream I and II were the prototypes of the luxurious, casual and intimate yachting experience. When we took over the twin yachts in September 2001, we made plans for their total redesign and refit that would provide discriminating guests with nothing short of a new and unique yachting experience. Hence, SeaDream II underwent redesign and refit in January 2002 and SeaDream I underwent the same rigorous redesign and refit in April 2002. SeaDream I and II are identical. Guests are hard put to find differences in the two. Our commitment does not stop there; there are current details in the works.

16. How about Some Vital Statistics?
The Country of Registry for both SeaDream yachts is the Bahamas. Gross tonnage of each is 4260. Length is 344 feet. Beam is 47 feet. Speed is 17 knots. Guest capacity is 110. Officers, staff and crew are international and number 89 per yacht. Both yachts are stabilized and fully air-conditioned with individual stateroom thermostats, and comply with SOLAS 2005 First Safety Standards.

17. Where do the SeaDream Yachts Sail?
In summer months, SeaDream I and II sail to small, intimate yachting ports along the Mediterranean Coast, into the Greek Islands and to some classic cities in those areas. Similarly, in the winter months the twin yachts sail the yachting playgrounds in the Caribbean. Newly added sailing regions are the Dalmatian Coast, the Adriatic and Black Seas and the French West Indies and the Grenadines. These deployments are usually seven-day sailings. In the Mediterranean, our yachts home port mostly in Monte Carlo, Nice and Rome. In the Americas, they home port mostly in St. Thomas and San Juan. As stated above, our Captains have the authority to make changes in the itineraries and schedules to please the guests. For detailed information on Itineraries, Ports and Schedules click here.

18. What Kind of Guests do these SeaDream Yachts attract?
Guests aboard our yachts are affluent, discerning, active travelers who have highly personal and casual lifestyles. The average age of SeaDream guests is 45 years. The unstructured nature of life aboard SeaDream I and II has strong appeal for these discriminating travelers. Besides active individuals and couples, SeaDream caters to small groups of likeminded travelers and the yachts are also available for full ship charter for corporate meetings, incentive groups or special family events.
