Pre-Speech Communication Strategies –
Email Campaign
The emails are sent typically in a series of three – 3 weeks out, weeks out, several days out.
The first two emails list a few benefits for attending the presentation and include a testimonial.
The third email is designed to “gather up” all the people who have procrastinated or haven’t yet decided to attend. It’s copy usually starts with…It’s not too late (but almost too late) to attend … on … or Join the 100 of your colleague who made a wise business decision to attend…
Confirmation note to actual attendees – as soon as someone signs up for the speech, the meeting planner/sponsor emails, faxes or mails the contact information to me. As soon as I receive the information, I send another postcard or email acknowledging the registration AND making the person feel good about the their decision to attend.
Sample acknowledgment notes:
I’m glad you’ll be attending NPI’s seminar April 5th and I look forward to helping you use networking to grow your business.
You made a good decision to attend the Greater Clearwater Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon April 30th. You’ll leave with lots of new ideas on how to keep customers for life.
