“In” Speech Marketing – Make the Introduction Fit the Topic

 

I try to make my introductions fit my speech topic as closely as possible. An introduction for a speech on “networking” to sales professionals included:

 

How many of you got a postcard from Ed?

How many of you received a letter from Ed?

How many of you received an email from Ed?

How many of you met Ed this morning?

Ed practices networking as he preaches it.

 

This text in my introduction provides an effective set-up for a speech on networking, after which, I’d hope to be hired to speak by some of the salespeople’s companies.
