¨       Make your business card memorable – it says who you are

¨       Make presenting your card a big deal (I’m not suggesting you bow as they present cards in Japan but hold it so that it can be read and present it slowly, maintaining eye contact with the recipient.)

¨       Give a good reason for keeping the card. Say something about the card and it’s value before you release it, such as: “My card has my website address which has a lot of valuable tips about _______.

¨       Have a version with your home phone number to communicate your uniqueness and the level of your commitment to your business

¨       Keep your cards separate from the cards you take so you look professional when retrieving them

¨       PUT YOUR PICTURE ON YOUR BUSINESS CARD! Isn’t the only reason we give someone our business card is so that they will remember who we are? Why not make it really easy for them? I resisted putting my picture on my card for many years because my ego and humility kept me from doing it. Now, when I hand someone my business card, they almost always comment about it. And, they never forget who I am!
