I Don’t Like Referrals…But I Love To Be Referred!
You’ve attending a networking meeting or a Chamber of Commerce mixer. One of your colleagues walks up and says, “I love your “stuff.” I know someone you should talk to.” You inevitably says, Great, give me their name.” The person gives you a name, and perhaps, a phone number, and what you end up with is…A COLD CALL!
Sure, you can call the referral and say “So and so gave me your name and suggested I call you.” With luck, the person you called will actually answer their phone and actually knows the person who gave you their name. But unless you absolutely love cold-calling, you’re really not much further along than that.
