A month before my move to St. Petersburg, I wrote to 600 businesses, members of the Chamber of Commerce. The letter introduced me and my speaking and consulting services. I gave the businesses an opportunity to request additional information about me my services.
RESULT: 1% of the businesses responded. I was ecstatic that I’d have 6 prospects to call on when I arrived.
HOWEVER, my mailing also included a well-thought, well-written “P.S.” that invited the business to send me information about THEIR business (given that I’d be buying lots of personal and business products and services.) AND, I included a postage-paid envelope!
RESULT: Only ONE company responded! Only one company took advantage of my invitation to sell me something!
· Do you read all your mail or do you make assumptions about its worth before you open it
· Do you respond when someone invites you to communicate your services?
· Do you realize the important notion that business comes from places you least expect if you are open to the possibility and respond to it?
