Speak Free 4Profit -- Another Reason to Market Manuals
Speak Free 4Profit…the title of one of my speaker manuals and one of my primary marketing strategies. Speak free and make a fortune is more and more a reality when you develop educational materials and market them at fair value.
My manual, Speak Free 4Profit, details how I have used free and reduced fee speaking as a primary marketing strategy for the past 12+ years. It discusses the rationale for accepting a free speech, criteria of an ideal free speech audience, and situations and strategies for turning free speaking into paid speaking, consulting fees and sales of educational materials.
I introduce the concept of free speaking in this manual as yet another great reason to invest in the enterprise of developing and marketing educational materials.
Simply put, it’s become a whole lot easier to accept a speaking engagement without fee to the right audience when I know that 25%-30% of them will spend an average of $297! I’ve lost track of the number of free speeches I’ve given in the last 3½ years where my profits on the sale of my educational materials have exceeded my mid-four figure speaking fees—more than my highest fee.
What was already for 9 years a highly profitable enterprise, free and reduced fee speaking has become my primary revenue-producing enterprise.
Recently, I sold over $5,700 in educational materials at a free speech to just 70 people. My speaking fee isn’t $5,700 (yet) and I haven’t even begun to calculate the value of future speeches for this association, future educational material sales and referrals.
How many “perfect” speaking engagements have you turned down over the years because you couldn’t depend on any calculable financial results?
I am not going to bore you with a lot more numbers and I promise I’m not bragging, but I sold over $70,000 in educational materials last year at free speeches—and only 12 of them at that! For some of you that might not be that much money, but for the rest of us that’s pretty darn good.
By the way, knowing what I can do in educational materials sales at a free speech, I don’t just accept those offered to me, but also seek them out and create my own free speaking opportunities.
